01 - Digital photo - copy,  rename, crop,  resize hand-in 
     
 
Take a digital picture of yourself and copy it to your personal directory on the network (the H: drive).  Crop the picture in Photoshop so it's just your head.  Resize it to a width of 800 pixels.  Rename the file to "Lastname, Firstname - My Picture" and copy it to the hand in folder.  The Hand-In Folder can be found in: J:Volume3Hand-InMr. RadfordComputers 6.
02 - MS Word "About Me"  
  
Create a one-page document in MS Word that tells me about who you are.  This could include your likes, dislikes, family info, friends, etc.  Your document MUST include the following elements:
  • Your picture
  • Your name in "WordArt"
  • Page Border
  • A minimum of 8 interesting things about you (in full sentences with no spelling mistakes).  This could include family members, countries you've traveled to, favorite video games, talents, etc.)
  • 10 different images of things you like/are interested in
  • Custom font formatting (including text animation)
  • Cool layout which is interesting and fun
03 - Photoshop Sunset
  Using Photoshop Elements, students will create a sunset image using custom brushes, multiple layers and opacity.  Use the following criteria:
  • 800x800 pixels size
  • "Grass" Brush for field
  • Gradient Bacground
  • Sunshine with rays made with "blur" tool
  • Cloud above the sun layer with lowered opacity.
  • Your name with a "text effect" used

04 - Mr. Corn Head (Brother of Mr. Potato Head)
 
  Using the following image, use various Photoshop selection tools to create a "Mr. Corn Head."    You must use a minimum of 5 items for your character to wear.   Each item must be on it's own layer.  TIP:  To get matching Left and Right items (shoes or ears for example), duplicate one of the item layers, then use the MOVE tool to flip it so it's opposite.  
 05 - Snowboarder Manipulation

  Using the following image, perform the following steps in Photoshop Elements:
  • Carefully select the entire snowboarder
  • Create a new layer using the snowboarder selection (Layer --> New --> Layer via Cut)
  • Rotate the snowboarder layer to make it look like he's doing a flip
  • Using the CLONE STAMP tool on the background layer cover up the area where you cut out the snowboarder.
  • Put your name on the document and hand it in
06 - Celebrity & Me
  Using Photoshop Elements, edit a picture which has you and a celebrity are interacting together in it.  The goal of this assignment is to make the image as realistic as possible.

07 - Hero Machine
 
  Create 2 custom "Heroes" using Hero Machine. 
Copy each hero using a screen capture ("PRNT SCRN" key) and paste it into Photoshop Elements.  Cut out your heroes and place them into WGSS.

08 - Transparency Collage
 
   Using Photoshop Elements create a collage that showcases the use of transparent images that compliment a central coloured image. The following criteria needs to be met:
  • 1000x800 pixels
  • Solid background colour (or subtle gradient)
  • 4-6 GREYSCALED images with lowered opacity
  • 1 central COLOURED image that is the focus of your theme

10 - PowerPoint
   This unit allows students to create a custom PowerPoint presentation (that will be shown in class) on the topic of their choice.  The  emphasis will be on presentation and content.  Students should be somewhat familiar with the topic they choose as they will be teaching their other classmates about it.
The final Powerpoint will be presented in class.
